Jean D. Kalber

Jean D. Kalber of Suffern, NY passed away January 9, 2012 at the age of 79. Born January 1, 1933 in Hackensack, NJ to James and Catherine Gunn, Jean graduated from Bergen Junior College with a degree in journalism and was a reporter for the Bergen Record. Later, Jean worked at Montebello School for many years and retired from Ramapo Central School District in 2001. She was married on June 12, 1954 to her late husband Thomas Kalber, she was also pre-deceased by her son Thomas Kalber. She is survived by her children, Debbie Sanford and husband Scott of Monticello, NY, Edward Kalber of Suffern, NY, Katie McCoy and husband Frank of Pearl River, NY, Patricia Kalber and husband Mark Misha of River Vale, NJ, and Jeannie Sheeran and husband Gary of Washingtonville, NY, as well as grandchildren, Jessica Licis and husband Aaron, Juanita Walters and husband John, James Armstrong, Erica Wilcox, and husband Edmond, Scott Sanford Jr., Tyler Sanford, Theresa Kalber, Christopher Cavanagh and wife Karlee, Amy and Christopher Kalber, Michael and Colleen McCoy, Jack and Grace Misha, Carly and Nolan Sheeran, as well as her sisters Betty Lynch, and Peggy Shoemaker and husband Bob. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern. Burial will follow at FW Loescher Veteran’s Cemetery in New Hempstead, NY. Friends may call on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Scarr Funeral Home Inc Route 202 Suffern. Donations may be made to Villa Marie Claire 12 West Saddle River Road, Saddle River, NJ 07458
