Scarr Funeral Home was founded in 1920 by Anthony J. Scarr. Ownership of the funeral home has passed down through 3 generations. Anthony’s son, Leonard A. Scarr took over Scarr Funeral Home in 1978. Ownership was then passed onto a third generation when Leonard Scarr II took over in 2005.
This sense of family has translated into how we service our clients. We treat every client that comes to us as if they are apart of our own family. We truly care about the people of Suffern and the surrounding communities in New York and New Jersey. We know the difficulty that comes with losing a loved one, and you can trust us to provide with the support you need.
Today, we have expanded and altered our service offerings to meet new age demands. More and more we have integrated and catered our services for online behavior – you can now pre-arrange a funeral online, you can create an online memorial page that pays tribute to a loved one with our Book of Memories platform, and you can now webcast a funeral ceremony for those who cannot attend.
Also today, we have grown to be a staple and major community participant within Suffern and nearby towns. We have supported and created amazing partnerships with the Suffern Police Department, Suffern Fire Department, Autism Awareness America, and Sacred Heart Church.
"I am truly honored to follow my grandfather and my father to serve the families in their time of need. We are one of Suffern's oldest business' and we are the only family-owned funeral home serving Suffern and the surrounding communities"
